A statistical look at the new Raptors lineup

Bryan Colangelos would be reverse of the above, no?

President Colangelo's would be reverse of the above, no?

Bryan Colangelo may not be done wheeling and dealing yet, but I dare say the 2009-2010 Toronto Raptors roster is basically complete (a possible 15th man-for-12th man trade won’t make a huge impact).  So, with little news expected on the horizon, let’s take a look at the new Raps from a stats-and-ratings angle:

Goodbye, Roko?

August 17th, 2009

Beat grunt extraordinaire Doug Smith is reporting that Our Roko is about to be dealt. So far the known components of the deal are:

from the Raptors, a sign-and-trade Carlos Delfino + Roko Ukic

from the Milwaukee Bucks, Amir Johnson + unnamed player Sonny Weems

Smith expects the deal to be finalized within the next 48 hours.

Sigh.

While I trust that Bryan Colangelo is completing a good deal here, I will miss Roko and the rock star potential he showed.

And, of course, Roko leaving will have a significant impact on this site. It will certainly still be a Toronto Raptors blog, but which Raptor will be my new focal point?

Let’s wait and see the deal in its final form first.

Bryan Colangelo, a.k.a. Ozymandias?

August 1st, 2009

BC king of kings previewCheck out my latest post in a looooong time, a comic-style thingy, now up at the Raptors Republic. Yeah, you heard me. Comic thingy. Raptors Republic.

Thanks to AltRaps for the kind words, both publicly and privately. You’re quite motivational yourself, Altie.

Ahem. Back to the post: It was inspired by my long-time appreciation of Bryan Colangelo, the best general manager we’ve ever had and probably ever will.

Also an inspiration was the poem “Ozymandias” by Percy Bysshe Shelley. I’ve seen that particular line quoted also in Watchmen, Savage Land and Grade 10 English class.

What did you think of the B.C. comic post? Got ideas for future posts? Comment below.
