After much discussion, bargaining, and even outright begging, we’ve come to a decision about this tie between TWolves Blog and Nugg Doctor in the Basketblog Header Playoffs (BHP): go to the video replay.
That’s right. College Wolf and Nick have each submitted a YouTube clip of a great playoff moment in Timberwolves and Nuggets history, respectively. The clip you like more will propel one of them into the BHP Elite Eight.
Watch the clips and vote, after the jump. Read more »

This is not part of the plan: there’s an actual TIE in the Basketblog Header Playoffs, Round 1, between TWolves Blog and Nugg Doctor. Gotta think of something to keep the festivities going.
Got an idea for a tiebreaker? Comment below.

In the immortal words of Empty the Bench: “The Season’s Over” — for fans of the Raptors and thirteen other teams. But if you’re also a fan of good NBA basketball, it’s not a total loss. There are meaningful games ahead. There are also interesting things to be said, if history holds true.
I asked blogosphere denizens what their favorite quotes were. Here are their answers; be inspired and amused. Read more »

After much
nominating and deliberating, sixteen basketball blogs have been chosen for their beautiful header images. They are divided into conferences, seeded one through eight and pitted against each other using polls (
no, not like this), until one winner is revealed.
Will the winner get a trophy? Naw. But they will get internets-wide recognition for their blog prettiness. And all blogdom will bow down, says Zoner.
So come and vote for your favorite header image. Polls close on Thursday, April 16, before midnight ET.
Check out the seeds and vote, after the jump. Read more »

Wanna win another Toronto Raptors ball cap?
The Hoop Doctors are offering adidas Raptors swag again in the latest Create-a-Cap contest. This time, put your words in the mouths of Richard Hamilton and Allen Iverson.
Interestingly, both Rip and AI have been connected to the Raptors in the past little while. Hmm. Does Dr. Anklesnap know something we don’t know? But I digress…
Go create a cap now!

Caron Butler. I still think he looks like Chuck Swirsky. (NBA.com)
What a treat! Not only do we get to see the Toronto Raptors face the Washington Wizards twice this weekend, but I also got to do a Q&A with Thomas Threlkeld of D.C. Pro Sports Report and the Dan Steinberg of D.C. Sports Bog!
(UPDATE: My answers to Thomas’ Raptors questions are now up on DCPSR.)
Here we go:
Pete: What do you see as the positive(s) of this season?
Threlkeld: There are two positive things that can be taken from this season. First, and most importantly, the Wizards will receive a very high lottery pick. There’s nothing wrong with that. Secondly, the Wizards got a chance to look at some of their young kids and found that they have a pretty decent, though still very raw, big man in Javale McGee. They found that Dominic McGuire is going to be a nice role player in this league, capable of filling the stat sheet with rebounds and assists, in addition to great defense.
Steinberg: Well, despite leading the league in games lost to injury, no one died. That was good. Also, Dominic McGuire seems like a keeper, though not a starting NBA two guard. Also, they’re going to get a top four or top five overall pick, which no team that has three recent All-Stars really deserves, though they might not even keep it. Read more »

Well, I lost that wager. Congrats to Michael De Leon of Project Spurs and Team SA Spurscasters for defeating Team Pete Marasmitch 5-4. Ironically, if Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili had played better, I would’ve won.
Now I’m gunnin’ for that #3 spot, which would put me on par with my career record thus far as a fantasy GM. Keep this up and I’ll be fired.
So click plenty on the Project Spurs banner this week. Michael earned your page views.

D'Antoni + Lee = 20/20 (Newsday / J. Conrad Williams Jr.)
This weekend features a back-to-back series between division rivals, the Toronto Raptors and the New York Knicks. They may be ”battling for the 14th spot in the East” right now, but both teams have a bright future. I ask SML, writer for Stop Mike Lupica and Sports On My Mind, and Mike Slane, beat writer for NYKnicks.com, about what’s going on in Knickerbockerland. (Check out my answers to Raptors questions at Stop Mike Lupica.) Read more »
