Be sure to check out Hoop Heads North’s “Best of the Worst” Awards, as voted by the unhappiest of NBA bloggers, i.e., those who blog about teams in the draft lottery.
Here’s the ballot I submitted:
Most Valuable Player – The best player from the worst of the league, must be from a non-playoff team
1. Danny Granger
2. Kevin Durant
3. Troy Murphy (Whaaa?) Read more »

Thank Dave Feschuk for reminding us that good young basketball talent is not just in North America, and for reminding me that I can find basketball gold when I look outside of the usual sources.
Here’s video of “the best basketball player ever.” Looks like the guy can score from anywhere, has great athleticism, handles and a killer instinct — he’ll literally take your head off. Judging from his uniform, he’s in the Russian Superleague: Read more »

We’re about three weeks away from the NBA draft lottery (Tuesday, May 19, 2009), and too long away from the actual draft (Thursday, June 25). Are you wondering about lottery odds like I am? Wikipedia breaks down the percentage chances for each lottery team. Here are the Toronto Raptors’, in order of likeliness: Read more »

This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for: The Best Basketblog Header, as chosen by you, the fans.
It was quite the battle between our two juggernauts, Bust a Bucket and Basketbawful. Both mowed through the competition to reach this point, where they faced the battle of their bloggy lives. Only one blog would emerge victorious.
There were two thousand, seven hundred and seventy-eight votes, the most ever in a single poll in Pete Marasmitch history. Sixty-six percent of you have chosen this blog as having the best header in basketblogdom.
And this blog is …
… revealed, after the jump.

This is the Basketblog Header FINALE, so of course I'm dragging it out! (via MSN.com)

If you’re a basketball fan in Canada, quite likely you resent being lumped in with the rest of “Hockey Nation.” Well, here’s a chance to show that Canadians aren’t all puckheads — we love the orange roundie, too!
In this, the final week of Future Shop’s “Build Your Hockey Playoff Pad” contest, come join my BASKETBALL Playoff Pad (note the hardwood floors). If you make my pad the most popular one, I win a Sony home theater system, and you can win a Sony Bravia 46″ flat panel LCD TV.
So let’s give a loud “WE ARE HERE” from basketball Whoville before this Thursday, April 30, 11:59PM PST. Join my playoff pad!

I wouldn't be smiling, kiddo.
The year is done and the report cards are in. How did our student, Roko Ukic, do in his first year at the NBA School of Hard Knocks? The principal opinion belongs to Bryan Colangelo, who says, “the kid needs a chance,” but also ”the jury’s still out,” and made the backup PG spot the top priority this summer. Ominous.
What did Roko do well, and what does he have to work on? Here is the list of comments from the internets. Read more »

These blog playoffs have it all: upsets, blowouts, even a tie. I can say, without any exaggeration, that the BHP blows March Madness out of the water (OK, a little exaggeration).
Now we’re into Round 2, with eight basketblogs left to strut their stuff. Who will make it to the Conference Finals? Who will represent Bono and Grimes?
Check out the matchups and vote, after the jump. Read more »
