Will this be the Summer of Bye-Bye Bosh?
Behold, your LOLRaps contest winner, LOLBosh by AltRaps of Raptors Republic. The Frozen Envelope is in the mail, Scott, along with the cheque.
Speaking of Chris Bosh and his summer …
I’ve seen suggestions for the Toronto Raptors to trade Bosh and frankly, it seems like a good idea. Here are some things Bryan Colangelo might consider before pulling the trigger:
- How will the economy affect NBA player movement over the next two seasons and beyond?
- Given the economy, might Bosh pick up his $17,149,243 for the 2010/11 season? How would that affect the Raptors’ trade options?
- Would it make more sense to spread the firepower (and money) around – say, a star swingman to go along with a productive big man – as opposed to the current “Killer B’s“?
- Would Andrea Bargnani continue to produce without Bosh in the frontcourt?
- How would such a trade be interpreted by fans, media and the rest of the league? (I say it’s a non-issue, but some fans do worry.)
- How might the draft change this lineup?
According to the rankings last week, the number of prospects by position, listed by lottery/1st round, according to Draft Express and NBADraft.net:
- Centres: 4/7 (DX), 1/2 (Net)
- Power forwards: 5/12 (DX), 4/6 (Net)
- Small forwards: 2/7 (DX), 3/10 (Net)
- Combo forwards*: 2/3 (DX), 0 (Net)
- Shooting guards: 5/10 (DX), 4/8 (Net)
- Point guards**: 4/8 (DX), 4/9 (Net)
- Combo guards***: 2/3 (DX), 1/2 (Net)
* a player type I’ve grown wary of.
** recommended by phdsteve.
*** these guys are on the rise.
What do you think of this lineup: Bargnani, Jordan Hill (who’s compared to Bosh!), a veteran SF, a star SG and a healthy Jose Calderon?
What other questions should BC consider first? What are your thoughts on trading Bosh? Please comment below.

I love Bosh, but I don’t think he’s worth max money. I would be very open if it were possible to trade Bosh (perhaps sign and trade) along with our pick in this years draft, for a top 3 pick in this years draft and whomever is the “star” 2/3 on that team. (ie. Gay/Mayo, or Caron Butler, or Kevin Martin)…and bringing back a combination of Marion, Parker, Graham, Pops, Delfino at reasonable prices if possible. Then drafting Griffen, Hill, or Monroe with top 3 pick, and buying into the draft later on to take a guy like Johnny Flynn and/or DeJuan Blair.

Rye – Good thoughts. I think we’d all love to see Pops and Parker back (the Killer P’s?).
But I definitely want to see the Raptors end up with a deadly starting SG. Ben Gordon will not do. Mayo (relatively unproven) and Kevin Martin (recent injuries) seem like getting 75 cents change for a dollar, though. How might their respective teams top it up for Bosh?
